Those who find themselves affected by eczema are normally those who have a family history of either allergies or asthma, but the actual cause of eczema is still unknown. Even though that is the case, there are still some indications that link it to over-reactive immune systems, and it is entirely possible that exposure to allergens causes inflammation as well as skin irritation.

Eczema can affect people from all age groups. It is usually found to have genetic roots but it is not contagious. This skin condition can appear anywhere on the body.

Eczema more commonly called atopic dermatitis or atopic eczema is a chronic skin condition in which the skin becomes inflamed, itchy, dry and may begin to crack. In most cases eczema affects infants, and in some instances it will continue on throughout their adulthood. There have been recorded cases of infants with eczema that has gone away, just to reappear later in the child’s adult life.
