What’s eczema?

The word eczema comes from the Greek word eczema and means to boil over. It is a fit outline since folk with eczema literally have an issue with an overproduction of epidermal cells resulting in red, itchy, scaling skin. Eczema can be an acute problem or a prolonged problem though those with a short term problem are often diagnosed as having rash. Really eczema is understood by many names including: atopic eczema, rash, contact rash, eczema and seborrhetic dermatitis. While these are all types of skin redness, they’re all considered under the family of eczema.

What causes eczema?

Skin health is a mixture of internal factors and external factors. There’s a lot of debate in the medical community concerning what causes eczema and the genuine answer is that we do not know. Some people have the belief that an over clean environment is the cause and that an absence of exposure to bacteria growing up has caused folk to have asthma and allergies. Others accept that eczema is an allergenic reaction to the feces of dust mites. There’s also proof that eczema might be related to food allergies, for example the consumption of dairy foods. If the body is unable to handle certain foodstuffs, it is obvious that the skin could become inflamed and irritated in the body’s attempt to deal with the offending substances.

What’s the treatment for eczema?

Sadly since we don’t really know the reason behind eczema, we also do not really have remedies for eczema. That means that most treatments intend to reduce the leading indicators of eczema, i. E the redness, itching and scaling that occurs. Some doctors prescribe corticosteroids to regulate the symptoms, but there are negative complications associated with long-term use. These include a thinning of the skin and eventual atrophy. For most, this is not a good solution.

Sunlight Treatment

So many of us have started looking toward nature for home cures to treat eczema. One of the best cures is sun exposure. UV radiation seems to help many people with the scale of their outbreaks. So if you live in a bright area, passing a little time outside in the sunshine could be a brilliant idea. You wouldn’t wish to put sunscreen on the areas impacted by eczema since the point is to allow the UV radiation to hit these patches. You should however put sun lotion on any areas that do not have eczema.

Diet

Try experimenting with your diet to get rid of particular foods for a fortnight and see what effect which has on your eczema. You need to try getting shot of one kind of food every fortnight so that you can isolate the issue. Popular foodstuffs which may cause food sensitivities include: dairy foods, eggs, nuts, wheat, coffee and soy products.

Salt water

Some of us have found that washing in salt water can help their eczema. Some of the people even travel to the Dead Sea in Israel to treat their skin ailments because of the supposed healing properties of the water and clay. One thing to bear in mind is that it could be unpleasant to clean sores in salt water, so be prepared for some possible discomfort.

Zania Morida has suffered from eczema since she was a kid and only by swapping to certified organic skin care has she found relief from it. Her skincare routine now consists of handling her symptoms.

Millions of people are diagnosed with this skin condition all over the world. One thing that is important for victorious treatment is having some understanding of the symptoms. You will learn there are varying degrees of severity with eczema, and that is also a dynamic with treating it. Do you suspect that you’ve contracted eczema? If that’s the case, there are a number of courses of action available to you. You may wish to seek advice from your medical doctor to get the real story, or you may possibly want to get some preparation at the pharmacy for self treatment. Your skin condition might be analyzed best by a dermatologist.

Contact eczema, or dermatitis, is one of the easiest to classify and treat, even though it is not the most universal. There are two distinctive types of contact eczema; allergic as well as irritant. The names are obviously self explanatory, but we will chat about them for clarity. Irritant eczema is simply when something gets in touch with with your skin, a sort of chemical for example, and it produces an eczema type of rash. You might come across household cleaning products, fragrant oils, or even soaps as the culprits for this condition. The characteristics of allergic eczema are about the same, but the factors aren’t irritants so much as things that you might be allergic to. Examples include pet dander, pollen, and dust mite excretions.

Observed mostly in children less than five years old, atopic eczema is the most prevalent variety of the condition. An itchy, dry rash is the major affliction. Of course a kid that young will obviously scratch the irritated area and make it worse. There may possibly also be puffiness evident in the area. The best response is for the kid to see a pediatrician for appropriate analysis and treatment.

Elder people may sometimes encounter varicose eczema. Anyone who has this type of eczema probably sees dark patches of skin that itch and appear red and swollen. A lack of good movement of the blood in the lower part of the legs is the typical cause. With extra fluid building up in the lower legs, the result can even be varicose veins, also referred to as thrombosis. Other names for this type of eczema are gravitational as well as static eczema. Incredibly prominent inflammation and even ulceration of the skin can develop in the most severe cases.

Keep a close eye on your skin affliction, as eczema can manifest in many different ways. Characteristics such as the location and the kind are very critical. If you are unsure about what it going on with your skin, and suspect eczema, then of course the best thing is to visit your family physician right away. As we’ve witnessed, there are more severe and less severe forms of eczema. To get an effective treatment based on the correct diagnosis, see your family doctor or skin doctor.

Are you someone that is scratching your skin consistently until it bleeds? Are you missing out on major school or corporate events because you are too embarrassed about your condition?

This is the life of a person suffering from eczema?

What is eczema?

Eczema is a chronic skin condition that produces inflamed skin. Atopic dermatitis or atopic eczema is the most common type, and according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease it affects 9-30% of the US population. The disorder is very common among young kids and babies. Although many infants outgrow the condition by the age of 2, a lot of folks continue to fight with the problem during their lives.

Some symptoms of eczema include:

*Itching *Rashes on skin (rashes occur most commonly on the face, knees, hands or feet)

What causes eczema?

While an exact cause hasn’t been identified, eczema has been closely associated with an overactive system by the immune system of the body to unknown causes. Eczema is also hereditary especially in families with other allergies or asthma. Exposure to rough or coarse materials, household products such as soap or detergent, and animal dander may cause an outbreak in some people, while others may feel too hot or too cold.

How can eczema be treated?

I have personally been in the medical field for several years now. I have encountered several eczema sufferers from various backgrounds, each of them had one thing in common. They were looking for a cure that didn’t cost them an arm and a leg. It is important for you to understand that eczema is often referred to as dermatitis or atopic dermatitis.

If you are an eczema sufferer chances are you have come across a few so-called medical professionals in your time. If you are one of those unfortunate individuals you know first hand how quick they are to prescribe some bull crap eczema cream that is way over priced. I am willing to take it a step further and stake my reputation on the fact that they never told you that there are several all natural eczema products that will work just as good if not better than what they have to offer.

As time went on I began to notice a pattern among eczema sufferers. Those that were getting tremendous results were those that were using virgin coconut oils. I have also encounter my fare share of doctors that had given up on their eczema patients. In some cases the doctor felt as if they had extinguished all possibilities and none of their medical eczema products seem to work.

For most eczema sufferers this is unacceptable. This is what drives them to search for cures themselves such as the virgin coconut oil that I mentioned earlier. The best part about virgin coconut oil is it can be purchased at any health food store, and it’s extremely affordable.

What do you have to loose? Go ahead and give the virgin coconut oil a try. All that you have to do is massage the oil into the affected area and or areas. That’s it! Turn on your favorite music, lay back and let the oil go to work.

Remember that your body is one of natures greatest creations. Anything that you need to heal yourself can be found in nature. The problem comes when big business steps in the picture and begins to hide the truth. I’m not going to dwell on this point to much since this isn’t the time or place for that.

I apologize for getting off track, but I felt that you needed to be reminded of a few facts. Ok with that said and done, please allow me to get back on track… Another type of eczema known as, “contact dermatitis” can be triggered by a variety of things i.e. jewelry, perfumes, eye glasses, the chemicals in cosmetics, lipstick, lotions, soaps, even fabric softeners. The list goes on and on, my goal is to just give you a general idea of some of the ways that some individuals can be affected by contact dermatitis.

Before you dive in head first treating yourself for eczema or testing any eczema products I recommend that you buy yourself a journal and begin to log all of your results. You should track when you have a breakout as well as some possible reasons that you had the occurrence. The reason for doing all of this is to narrow down and eventually determine what is causing the breakouts. By following this method you can quickly discover if your natural treatment is working, how long is it taking etc…

After about 30 days of keeping a journal you will have a much better understanding of your condition. You should be able to determine whether or not you have contact dermatitis or the type of dermatitis that is triggered by internal triggers such as food, liquids, etc…

Eczema more commonly called atopic dermatitis or atopic eczema is a chronic skin condition in which the skin becomes inflamed, itchy, dry and may begin to crack. In most cases eczema affects infants, and in some instances it will continue on throughout their adulthood. There have been recorded cases of infants with eczema that has gone away, just to reappear later in the child’s adult life.

In Western Europe studies have shown that approximately 30% of all skin related visits to the doctor resulted in a diagnosis of atopic eczema. This skin condition knows no boundaries. It will attack men, women, children, and even those of various ethnic backgrounds. In a recent survey of doctors in Western Europe, North America and Australia it was discovered that the number of individuals being diagnosed has grown.

Scottish researchers published a study that revealed children with severe eczema feel their life is somewhat impaired to the same extent as other chronic illnesses. It is also a proven fact that young children who get atopic eczema tend to develop asthma months or even years later. In the medical genre this condition is known as, “The Atopic March.”

For all that is known about eczema there are still some things that we do not know. For example the exact cause of this skin condition is still unknown. Scientists best guess is that it results from an interaction of factors including personal and family genetics, immune response and environmental factors. Stress and other emotional discord may make eczema worse, but they haven’t been proven to actually cause the condition.

If by chance both parents have eczema or other disorders such as asthma or hey fever, chances are that their children will develop it. In addition, approximately 75% of children with eczema also develop hay fever or asthma.

Do to the lack of medical advancement in this area, more and more individuals that are suffering from this skin condition have started seeking natural cures and home remedies.

I hope you have found this article to be informative and that it has encouraged you to further your quest for knowledge on this skin condition.

Atopic eczema is a disease identified by chronic inflammation of the skin. This is also called atopic dermatitis and can be genetic. This is in reality the most common form of eczema. Babies, children and adults are prone to this disease. But, contrary to some people’s beliefs, it is not contagious.

Those who suffer from this disease usually get red, flaky, irritated and itchy skin. Babies have rashes in the face, elbows and knees. Children and young adults usually have the symptoms inside the elbows, behind the knees, on the wrist and on the side of the neck and hands. But naturally, symptoms change from one person to another. This is caused by the skin’s abnormal response to irritants and allergens in the environment.

Apart from allergens, the disease may occur because of other factors such as stress or fatigue. But usually, it attacks with other atopic diseases such as hay fever and asthma. So those people with a history of these problems have the greatest chance of experiencing the chronic inflammation of the skin which can be exacerbated by the irritants and allergens.

To prevent atopic eczema, one first has to know what touches off the allergic reaction. Here are some common triggers among eczema sufferers:

• Changes in temperature
• Foods like peanuts, soy sauce, etc.
• Clothes made from wool and other abrasive fabrics
• Allergens like dust, animal dander, mold, pollen and etc.
• Chemical irritants like astringents, perfume, detergents, alcohol, paint, pesticides and harsh soaps.
• Extreme fatigue and stress
• Other skin infections

Essentially, the method of prevention is obvious. One has to avoid these triggers to avoid eczema!
