Among the most frequently asked questions if you know someone with psoriasis is often, “is psoriasis contagious?” To promptly put your thoughts to rest, the reply is NO! If you know someone with psoriasis, then touching them is not going to infect you, in reality it doesn’t even spread from one area of the body to another!

Although indications of psoriasis can look unpleasant, it is only the sufferer who has to live with them, not you. Those pink/red patches of scaly skin that may be dry and cracked or have blisters full of pus will remain with the sufferer alone.

Psoriasis is related to a issue in the immune system. Basically, the ‘T’ cells, rather than helping protect the body, attack the skin cells. This then activates other responses from the immune system that leads to an over-production of skin cells.

You will find there’s inherited link and this will typically reveal itself between the ages of ten and forty-five years of age. It is not a disease which is really observable at all times, but it can break out anytime, and often as a response to a particular ‘trigger’ for the individual.

Triggers for psoriasis typically include stress, immune system weakening diseases, infections, specific medications, smoking, cold weather and other skin irritation problems.

The disorder can be treated and new psoriasis treatments are coming to the marketplace all the time. The easiest method to begin with is to use a in depth moisturizing routine. Body lotions may prevent the skin from drying out and cracking, and will help remove some of the rough patches. Scaling may also be lessened with the addition of a little Epsom salts or unscented oil to your bath.

Your physician will advise you of suitable prescription creams, gels and perhaps antibiotics, but there are also over-the-counter products that may help. As everyone is different, this will be a little bit of trial and error.

One of the new treatments for psoriasis is the use of artificial light treatments is ‘PUVA’ treatment. This involves ingesting Psoralen (a light-sensitizing medicine) and after that having controlled exposure to artificial lights.

In summary, psoriasis symptoms are not there all the time, can improve with therapy but won’t ever go away completely. Treatments can be extremely effective but may need changing on a regular basis as the skin becomes accustomed to them. So, is psoriasis contagious? No. However, it usually is painful and certainly very distressing each time a sufferer has a flare up, so don’t cause them to feel any worse!

Dealing with the disease known as Eczema is hard to do some times. The severity of the problem differs from case to case. Like most problems we have we have been unable to find a cure just a treatment. Eczema treatment is available for you if you are afflicted with this problem. The results will be varied depending on the type of treatment you seek.

Eczema is a disease that’s very similar to Dermatitis. Dermatitis is essentially an irritation or inflammation of the skin, or epidermis if you prefer that term. Most treatments are worth at least one try to see if they work or not. In rare cases there are reports of sever pain associated with the disease. These can be the toughest cases to deal with.

Most common symptoms of the disease can result in a rash or other small skin irritation that refuses to leave. In some worst cases it can resemble a full blown sun burn. Personal symptoms may very but essentially you will have small blotches on your arms and legs. In most cases a long sleeved shirt can cover things up but it may not work all the time.

Skin irritations are no one’s friend and doctors have a hard time getting them to go away. Most doctors need to know a good bit about skin care in order for it to go into remission but they occasionally run into a problem or two. Generally if they can get it to go away it might still come back in future dates. Annoying little bugger isn’t it?

There are treatment options available if you wish to seek them out. Most people tend to go with antibiotic ointments, and creams. These are healing salves mixed with antibiotics to kill all bacteria on the affected area. This will illuminate all bad bacteria but will also kill the good bacteria. It a choice you have to make. But most people tend to make these their first choice.

Another form of treatment is steroids. Steroids can help your body alleviate the symptoms of Eczema. Many allergies are treated with steroids especially when they are plant based allergies. There is one other treatment you can request but your doctor may be hesitant to prescribe it. This is an immuno suppressant and it’s not given unless it’s absolutely necessary.

There are many reasons for this but mainly because it can hurt you. Your immune system will be suppressed and you will be open to other diseases and viruses. Scientists are still looking for cures so don’t lose hope. Just remember that it may take a while to finally figure out this disease. Medicine isn’t perfect.

The options for eczema treatment are not limited but results may vary. It can be hard living with the disease if you have one of the more intense cases. In which case all you can do is treat the side affects and try to get rid of the rash as best as possible. In any case be sure to consult your doctor before you try anything drastic. Cutting your arm off is not the solution.
